A lapsed post revived after two months

Me and my blog posting time – or rather lack of it. Somehow I never got to post this one, even though I wanted to show this so much, I was so happy to get it and it means so much to me =) Yet time passed so swiftly and this kept waiting. Now that it’s the end of the year and everybody is putting up pictures of their Christmas gifts, I have a special post dedicated just to show you, what my dear boyfriend brought me from Germany two months ago, when I couldn’t go with him and everyone else.

He asked me beforehand what polishes I would like to have if they had any time for shopping and I’ve emailed him two photos, an H&M “Blue my mind” and a P2 “Gigantic” (if there was one to get by any chance, I know that it has been discontinued). Later on he told me while he was still there, that no H&M he had been to was selling polishes (other than the small ones we get here in Slovenia as well), nor he could find Gigantic (understandable). But he told me that he got something else instead, I couldn’t wait for him to get back home and see the goodies for myself! =)))

Here’s what he brought home for me:

IMG_6320

He bought the P2 crackling polish in the similar color to “Gigantic”, the black Colorama he bought because it was Halloween and he wanted to complete his mask and wear it but then ended up not using it at all, and the silvery Misslyn was a bonus for me (I guess he wanted to surprise me with something extra). How amazing is that! =))))) <3<3<3

My girlfriends later told me how sweet he was running back and forth between polish stands in the drugstore, asking them whether they think I would like this or that polish… <3<3<3 =)))) Not only that, he told me that prior to buying any, he also checked and made sure that the brushes were intact!! xDDD

Even though I had no time to publish this sooner, I think it deserved a post of its own. Love is truly showing in the smallest details in life and I am a really lucky girl to have such a thoughtful man! Thank you my love!!! <3<3<3 You truly are the best and I love you dearly! =))))) =**********

My Christmas Day mani – Wine Shimmer Colorama

Hello my dear readers! I know it’s been a while since I actually posted a manicure and that I’ve been absent a lot lately, but that doesn’t mean I forgot about you (or your blogs, dear fellow bloggers!). There is a reason I had no time to post anything, of course work is a big factor and takes up a lot of my time (thank god I have a job btw!), but I also had a lot of business trips to Germany in the last two months. I am very happy to say that even though it was mostly very busy and we had just a little free time to go about, I was able to visit some Germany’s drug stores and buy me some cosmetic goodies (wooohooooooooo! :))))))). Now I can’t wait to try them out and show them to you! ;)

Now that it’s Christmas time I am enjoying a week off work :) I had to work on Monday so there was no special mani for Christmas Eve (during the day it was just another day of being in a hurry), but I had time to do it on Christmas Day, yaaaaay! :))) I finally chose to try one of the gorgeous beauties I bought a month ago and I haven’t seen it sold in Slovenia yet – a Maybelline Colorama 265 Wine Shimmer. It’s a beautiful red jelly packed with small holographic glitter – perfect for Christmas!

Check this beauty out! :)

I have to say, my camera had trouble picking up the right color, the most color accurate photo may be the last one, but the brightness is more accurate on first photos - it’s a bright deep red. Here I have three coats – not necessary for coverage, two is enough, but with two the color is lighter (and the reason I have three is I messed up one finger and had to put on the third coat – but then the difference in color showed so I had to even that out). I don’t know how the VNL comes up in the photos, in real life it is not visible unless you really really try hard to look for it.

The formula is great, it dries nicely, the only minus is that my tips were worn off from the beginning – but that may be due to my Essence better than gel nails top sealer shrinking it. I love how it shines and the depth it has being a jelly with glitters shining in different layers. I love it! :)

I hope all of you had a warm and happy Christmas with your families! :)

Bourjois Fuchsia Hype

Hello everybody, I finally have some time to post something. I’ve decided to show you an amazing polish I wore back in September but somehow never got to publish. I bought it in a package together with two mascaras – one was inside the box and one just tied to it. Here’s what the original package looked like (picture taken from www.parfumcenter.hu – the only one I could find since I never took one), they are still being sold in Slovenia:

The mascara tied to the box was this one (picture taken from http://www.xtras-online.co.uk):

Bourjois_1001_Lashes_d

Unfortunately I’m disappointed in both of the mascaras, still searching for my holy grail. But let’s get back to the subject. The Fuchsia Hype polish – such a win! The color is amazing, the application is amazing, I put on two coats but I think if you are talented enough you need only one, and the staying time – wow! I wore it for days and it didn’t start chipping until I had to do a hard cleanup of the apartment after repainting! I just love the quality of this one! ^ ^

And the photos I took:

Does anyone else own any Bourjois “So Laque” polishes? Do you have similar experiences?

NOTD: Gilded

Twilight – the saga I know (almost) nothing about and something that interests me like dust on a shelf. However, every year it brings about Essence’s awesome trend editions and this year’s was no exception! I thought I was going to buy all four polishes, but somehow sanity kicked in when I was at the stand and I left one shade (!) on the shelf – Edward’s love just seemed too much like last years Hunt me if you can (and I’ve read about that before, but was certain I was going to get it anyway). So this is how I became a proud owner of three new polishes from Essence’s Breaking Dawn Trend Edition (I also bought the lipstick, love that shimmer!).

The problem was, I was so in love with the Maybelline Colorama 145 I showed you in my last post, I didn’t want to take it off just yet. And since I’ve read that the golden A piece of forever polish from Breaking Dawn was good for stamping, I once again pulled out my Kand nail plate CK-04 that I got from Born Pretty Store. Here are the results:

And the last photo was taken in the daylight:

You can see I wanted to have both polishes in my hand, boy it gave me trouble, LOL! :D But I love that combination!

NOTD: New Maybelline Colorama 145

Hello my dear polishholics! First I have to apologize for not quickly responding to your dear comments on my past three posts, I scheduled them upfront and didn’t think to mention that (I’ll make sure to include that information in the future, just so you know) and couldn’t answer until I got back to Slovenia. But thank you thank you thank you all for your comments, it really means a lot to me! <3

Today I have such an amazing polish to show to you, perfect for autumn! I was curious what the new polishes from Maybelline Colorama are like so I bought this beautiful red shade with golden shimmer. I wear red so rarely, I’m definitely a pink kind of girl (mostly because I don’t have a fashion sense at all and so combining different clothes gives me a headache, even more so when it comes to red vs. pink – so much easier to stick to just one and not to think about it too much… not really proud of that though or pleased with either, maybe I’ll have to change that… =/ ). OK, here are the photos!

The first one is taken under the direct artificial light (and I think this is what it would look like under the sunlight):

IMG_6108
And the second one just under the plain light in my room which gave it a more brownish shade (kind of like in the shade =D):

IMG_6139
I had no trouble with the application, the polish dried quickly, I painted it in two layers. The new bottles contain 7ml whereas the old ones had 7,5ml of polish, the price however I think is the same, a little less than 3€.

Check out the color and the golden shimmer! Isn’t it just gorgeous! Man, I have to wear red more often! =)))

Have you also bought any new Colorama polishes yet, do you like them?

Thanks for reading! =)

NOTD: Barry M Indigo

I’ve posted about this polish before, a dear friend of mine bought it for me in London and then refused to take any payment for it, saying it’s her souvenir for me, how sweet! :))

This one has been on my wish list for a loooooong time. It’s a beautiful blurple that of course my camera had trouble capturing. In addition to that, the first time I had it on, for some reason my top coat bubbled on me badly, but I did take some photos anyway. Later on I removed it and noticed my nails peeling :( I had to file them down, I can’t seem to grow my nails longer now… I will have to do something about it, but until later I will have to be showing you my little nubbins again… Here are photos from both “photo sessions”, the color is not as blue as in the first photo and not as violet as in the second one… try to imagine something in between….

IMG_6224

IMG_6286

And finally a photo taken under direct sunlight, yay sun! :))) I guess this is the most color accurate photo:

05112012599

I’m so happy I have this one, the color is fabulous, the formula grand, the application effortless! :)))

Do you like Barry M polishes as much as I do? :)))

NOTD: H&M Oh La La

Today I’m showing you a small polish from H&M, there were four shades but I chose to buy just one. It’s a coral shade with golden shimmer, at times it seemed more pinkish and at times it seemed orangey. I took some photos under different lightings, no daylight, sorry, but check it out!

IMG_6010 IMG_6032 IMG_6023
IMG_6036

An interesting color that I like a lot, but I don’t like the formula, the application was uneven and it gave me trouble.

Even though I generally like these small H&M polishes, I don’t know why we don’t have the ones from the H&M regular line…?? :(

NOTD: Essence Class of 2013 TE Rules of being cool

Hy all! It seems to me it has been such a long time since I last posted but my schedule keeps being crazy. There are too many things I want to do besides my work and there isn’t enough time to do them all. I still try to find time to paint my nails though since I do realize I have a true nail polish obsession… :P

Today I’m showing you a piece from Essence’s Trend edition Class of 2013, Rules of being cool. Even though I have a polish addiction I’ve been feeling a little bit bombarded with all the trend editions in the last month. I can’t believe what I’m about to say – I feel there is too much of everything.

I know there are still some stores you can get this one in Slovenia. Here’s what it looked like on me:

IMG_6248w

IMG_6254w

I know the photos are not the best, but being at work everyday means rarely getting any daylight for taking pictures.

I really like this dusty periwinkle color, but the application was a bit patchy (just like pastel blues) and I had to be aware of that to even it out.

Did you get anything from this TE?

Deborah Milano #17

Hey hey, I am sorry, but I have a crazy time schedule at the moment, so I had to prepare a few posts upfront with some of my past manicures I wasn’t able to publish yet. I hope you enjoy my posts, and I hope to get back on track as soon as possible. Thanks for understanding! :)

Today I’m showing you a polish I really like, Deborah Milano #17. The pictures were taken in the summertime so I’ve got a little tan :P

IMG_4907 IMG_4904 IMG_4909

I love Deborah Milano polishes! And these shimmery shades! So beautiful! This one is quite sheer though and prone to bald spots, you have to be aware of that, otherwise the formula gave me no troubles.

I’ve seen that these polishes are being on sale at the moment in more than one drugstore, so I’m thinking they may be discontinuing them and bringing something new to the shelves.

Do you have any from this Shine Tech line? Do you like them?

Kand nail plate CK-04: take #3

This is my third take on Kand nail plate CK-04, I really like this plate. The base was P2 Blue’s brothers polish and I stamped with Konad special Princess stamping polish Blue Pearl. Here’s what I came up with:

IMG_5981

IMG_5962

IMG_5976

IMG_5964

Again I had to stamp my thumb twice, but that doesn’t bother me at all. :) The funny thing I noticed while stamping twice with this Konad polish – when I stamped the first time, the pattern transfered to my nail, but it also stayed on the stamper as well, so I tried to reuse it and I pressed it the second time – the second stamping was more vivid in color, so wierd! I’m thinking, thinner coats of polish on the plate showed more vividness on nails… I have to remember that for the next time. Also, I’ve put top coat on my right pinky, but because it dulled the pattern, I haven’t put it on any other nails. Of course that meant that after 4-5 days the unprotected pattern rubbed away, but I was ready for another manicure anyway. :)

If you like this plate, you can get it here: 42 Cute Patterns Quadrate Nail Art Stamp Template CK-04 http://www.bornprettystore.com/cute-patterns-french-nail-image-stamp-template-series-models-p-2573.html and you can use my discount code CHL91

I know my stamping is still not perfect, but practice helps :) Do you like it?

NOTD: P2 – Blue’s brothers

Today I get to show you the second polish that my boyfriend brought me from Germany. Again I will post the same photo as before, the two polishes in the sun:

IMG_5996
And here is the Blue’s brothers on my nails:

IMG_5922

IMG_5924

IMG_5944

Aaaaaaaah. gorgeous!!!!

I’m so sorry I couldn’t get any photos in the sun. As for the formula it has the same issue as P2 – My place or yours?, it’s very thick and it dries fast. The polish on the “brushstick” above the bristles of the brush gets goopy while I paint my nails because of it’s fast dryness, but even though I had a hard time being precise with the application and had to do a lot of cleanup afterwards, the color is so worth it!

What do you think? :)

Kand nail plate CK-04: take #2

I played with my new stamping plate from Born Pretty Store again, the base polish is P2 My place or yours? and for stamping I used Essence nail art magnetics 01 Miracle shine. I smudged the design a little bit on some fingers at the beginning of stamping, but I got a hang of it after stamping about three fingers. Later on I actually liked it like that (see the pinky of my left hand), but I was also lazy and had no time to obsess with perfection at night, that’s why I was ok with it not being perfect. But if you have a problem with stampings not being 100%, just skip this post ;) (btw, a colleague of mine has a saying, “there is emptiness in perfection” ;))

Left hand:

IMG_5906

Right hand:

IMG_5911

I don’t exactly know where I was looking when I stamped the middle finger of my right hand, I missed the center totally :D But then I just filled the bald spot in with the other side of the stamp, so the pattern is a actually cut in half. And again, I liked it. :) The patterns are just big enough for my small nails, I actually managed to place the pattern on my left thumb in dead center of the nail and it was big enough. However I wasn’t as precise on my right hand thumb so I had to stamp it twice.

You can find this plate here: 42 Cute Patterns Quadrate Nail Art Stamp Template CK-04 http://www.bornprettystore.com/cute-patterns-french-nail-image-stamp-template-series-models-p-2573.html and here’s my review of it – click. For ordering anything you can use my code for discount, CHL91. Thanks! :)

How do you like this manicure? Are your stampings always immaculate? Thanks for your comments! :)

NOTD: P2 – My place or yours?

Hy! It’s time I show you the first beauty that my boyfriend brought me from Germany :) For those who have not seen my previous post, here is the picture of both polishes he got me (this photo was taken under the sunlight):

IMG_5996

Now here’s what 544 My place or yours looks like on my nails (unfortunately the weather was bad when I was taking photos and my nails were photographed under artificial lighting only – but it is close enough):

IMG_5862 IMG_5869 IMG_5883

It’s violet with tiniest pink and blue shimmer. On the bottle it says “ultra schnelltrocknend” which means it’s ultra fast dry, and it really is a fast drying polish, but with a funny formula, it’s very thick. It bothered me, that the polish on the “brushstick” above the bristles of the brush was getting goopy while I was painting my nails, it seems a bit of a waste to me. However, when I accidentally bumped my finger and smudged my not yet completely dry polish, all it took was another layer of it on that finger and there was no sign of the accident – the polish is that thick (and I didn’t have to wait for ages for all the layers to dry). The brush is flat and it says on the bottle that that enables you a perfect application – I disagreed, but I think the formula is to blame. I had a lot of cleaning up to do, but when I was done with it, I loved it :))) P2, you are completely forgiven, for the shade you made is just gorgeous!! What do you think? :)

My newbies #1

Hy all! :) I’m really tired from not getting enough sleep, but I want to do this post as the last thing I do today– I want to show you some new nail polishes I got recently. I know I’m a nail polish hoarder, but painting my nails and watching my painted nails gives me such joy, color makes me happy :) When I was a student, I used to be a marker hoarder, all of my notes were in all colors, it was much easier to study that way and I kind of felt like a kid coloring a coloring book, it motivated me :)) I still have my drawers full of paper in all colors, empty notebooks, pens and markers, but I don’t need them anymore since I graduated. I guess I’m compensating that with nail polish now :)))
Anyway, let’s get down to business. First two polishes are from my boyfriend :))) He bought them for me when he was in Germany, I was so happy :)))) Even though my nail polish obsession seems funny to him, he supports me, isn’t that sweet? :))))) Check out the beauties of P2:

IMG_5996

He said he didn’t know which ones to get :D so he took the ones that were on the shelf with the sign “NEW” :D These are 532 Blue’s brothers and 544 My place or yours? They are very dark but shine in the sun :)))
The second one is my first OPI! Yes, I’ve bought an OPI! :D It was on sail, all of the shatters are on sail, but to me it is still expensive, it was 40% off, 7,8€, but I’ve bought it the day I received my first paycheck ^ ^ Here’s OPI Turqoise shatter:

IMG_6000

The third one has been on my wish list for a long time and a dear friend of mine bought it for me when she was in London. When I wanted to pay for it, she insisted it was a gift from her :)) <3 I’m talking about Barry M Indigo:

IMG_6001

Next ones are the ones that caught my eye in the drugstore: Depend shatter polish nr. 5013 – purple with golden shimmer and Depend polish nr. 313 – a violet polish with green shimmer:

IMG_6004

Also bought with my first paycheck was H&M polish “Oh la la” – a coral shade with golden shimmer. You can only see a hint of a shimmer on this photo, I’m sorry for that :/

IMG_6006

And I’ve chosen only one polish from Essence’s LE Class of 2013, the blue one named Rules of being cool:

IMG_6007

I really have to stop myself from buying most of the stuff from limited editions, because I know I already own so many beautiful things – this applies both to polishes and make up (but I did buy two eyeshadow pens from this collection, 01 Want to be my freshman and 03 Blues of being cool, and I really like them, they stay intact for hours on my fairly oily lids). I’m so proud of myself for not buying anything from Catrice’s Big city life LE yesterday, and I had a full rack of stuff in front of me… it was all so pretty, but for every eye shadow, blush or polish I could remember having similar shades at home (and using them only from time to time).

Ahh, now I can’t wait to paint my nails with these polishes! :))) Do you own any of these as well? How do you like them?
